Pony coaching is a practice by which horses are taught to perform certain behaviors as commanded by somebody. Horses are trained to make it simpler for us, humans, to handle them and to make them perform helpful activities. They are trained for different purposes including everyday care as well as for equestrian activities.

While for people with incapacities, horseback riding can be healing.

It is in the nature of horses to follow a certain leader because they’re social herd animals. This makes coaching a pony easier.

Horses have a biological reply to acute stress, meaning, that they react to threats by fighting or fleeing. To these animals, humans can be threats.

It is less complicated to coach a young pony than an older one because a young horse, like most animals, can easily adapt to human. Others leave the young horses for its first few hours or days to permit the foal to bond with its mother.

A foal is halter damaged during its first year, which means that it is trained to permit a halter placed upon its head. A halter, which is also called a headcollar or headstall, is a headgear that is used to lead or tie up a pony. Foals are too young to be ridden, explaining why a halter is placed on its head so it can be led to walk and trot.

Other talents a pony must be taught in its early years are being caught from a field and being loaded into a pony trailer. Another critical thing is that it must be exposed to noises and turmoil of ordinary human activities in order not to be afraid of them. Examples are noises coming from automobiles, radios, etc.

After the basic coaching is the ground coaching, wherein foals are prepared for riding and kept them used to humans. Young horses are also introduced to a saddle, bridle or harness, which is done without really getting on the pony or hooking up a cart.

There is no particular age for a pony to be backed or ridden. Horses are less difficult to be ridden if they’d sufficient ground training. Once a pony mastered the basic talents under a saddle, it is prepared to learn a more specialized training for a specific discipline or set of disciplines.
.
